Unfortunately some clients are unable to maintain a healthy body weight or work towards weight restoration or recovery in the community setting. On these occasions many clients experience serious and life threatening physical health problems that can only be safely and effectively addressed in an inpatient facility which is where Rharian Fields can offer help and support.
Rharian Fields Inpatient Service provides a safe and tranquil space where individuals can learn to gain control over their difficulties with the support of highly skilled professionals committed to aiding recovery.
The environment we have created means clients can engage in a structured daily timetable that include activities, therapies, treatments and a healthy routine that promotes recovery.
The service is for those aged from 17 and a half years and above. Inpatient admission is the preferred option when there is a high risk to the individual should they remain at home.
What does the service offer?
The Rharian Fields treatment for Eating Disorders is highly individualised therapy and we work with people to offer support that will be most effective for them personally. This will most likely include focussing on promoting psychological and physical recovery, reaching a healthy BMI, maintaining healthy eating through protected, supported mealtimes and treating other possible disorders such as depression, OCD, or anxiety. Psychological treatments will focus on eating behaviour and attitudes to weight and shape and on wider psychosocial issues.
All clients will have an identified, named worker/ therapist who will oversee their care throughout their time at the clinic and will meet with them on a 1:1 basis at least three times a week.
Everyone is assessed by the Consultant Psychiatrist qualified in Management of Eating Disorders on initial assessment and throughout their whole treatment to ensure that their medical and psychiatric needs are met. Additionally, all clients will be reviewed by the Dietician on admission and throughout their time at the clinic to ensure that their nutritional needs are met.
Approximate treatment length will be discussed prior to admission with both the referrer and the client and will be dependent upon physical risks and weight gain required to reduce these risks.
The weekly programme is created to positively change relationships with food through activities that improve self-esteem, body image and nutritional awareness as well as to encourage engagement in hobbies that the clinet is already interested in. We try to maintain an environment that sees clients supporting each other as well as building effective relationships with staff members to the best route to recovery for each individual.
